What Confirm actually does

Confirm adds three things on top of everything in Understand:

  1. A clinician who reviews your entire scored battery before you meet
  2. A video consultation where that clinician runs a structured diagnostic interview and talks through your history with you
  3. A signed-off diagnosis, formulation and set of recommendations at the end

If you have already completed Explore and Understand, none of that work is repeated. Your clinician sees it all before the call, so the consultation itself can focus on the interview and the conversation, not on re-collecting information you have already given.

The themes stay the same; what changes is who is involved

Confirm uses the same nine plain-language themes as Understand: Attention and Focus, Energy Activity and Impulse Control, Thinking and Organisation, Social Connection and Communication, Routines Interests and Flexibility, Sensory Experiences, Emotions and Body Awareness, Mood and Wellbeing, and Everyday Life and Independence, alongside your background information. What Confirm adds within those themes is a clinician-administered diagnostic interview: DIVA-5 for adults, Young DIVA-5 for children, both considered the gold standard for confirming ADHD, alongside a structured autism interview where relevant. These interviews only ever happen with your clinician, in your consultation; they are never part of the self-guided app.

What happens for adults (18+)

Your clinician reviews your full Understand results, including BAARS-IV, RAADS-R, SRS-2 and your mood and wellbeing screens, alongside your cognitive performance results. In the consultation, they administer DIVA-5 where ADHD is in question: a structured interview that checks your symptoms against each DSM-5 criterion, across both childhood and the present, corroborated with your own account and any collateral history you can offer. Where autism is in question, they explore your results against the same diagnostic framework in conversation with you. This combination, self-report evidence plus a clinician-led interview, is what allows a genuine diagnosis rather than a screening result.

What happens for children and young people (5 to 17)

The process mirrors the adult pathway, adapted for age. Your clinician reviews the completed Conners 3, BRIEF-2, SRS-2 and adaptive behaviour results from Understand, gathered from parents, teachers and the young person themselves where appropriate. In the consultation, they administer Young DIVA-5 where ADHD is in question, working through each criterion with the parent or carer present, alongside a structured autism interview where relevant. Because children's presentations often differ across settings, home versus school in particular, your clinician pays close attention to where accounts agree and where they diverge; that is treated as clinically useful information, not a problem to explain away.

Safety, throughout

If anything in your results points to acute risk, at any point, including during Understand before you have even reached Confirm, that is escalated immediately rather than waiting for your consultation. Where a child's results raise a safeguarding concern, that is routed through the appropriate safeguarding pathway straight away.
